Sonnar Killa : The Jaisalmer Fort is made up of golden yellow sandstones because of which the Fort is locally known as Sonar Quila (Golden Fortress). Jaisalmer was founded around 1156 A.D. by a Rajput ruler named Raja Rawal Jaiswal. The famous Indian film-maker Satyajit Ray also wrote a novel based on the fort and called it "Sonar Quila". It was later made into a movie. The Fort comprises of Jain Temples, a royal palace, magnificent havelis (mansions) and four huge gateways and is located on top of the Trikuta Hill

Nathmal Ki Haveli : Nathmal Ki Haveli in Jaisalmer is a famous landmark of this place. The architecture of this mansion is a unique blend of Rajput as well as Islamic style of construction. It is quite different from the other palaces and havelis around Rajasthan. Nathmal Singh Ki Haveli was supposed to be the official residence of the Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. There is an interesting story attached to how the place was built. Read about it in the following lines.

The Desert National Park : The Desert National Park of Jaisalmer is situated in the heart of the Thar Desert that is sprawled across Rajasthan. The Desert national park provides an ideal picture of the ecosystem of a desert and shows the rich and diverse flora and fauna of an arid desert. Most of the desert comprises of sand dunes and a rocky undulating terrain. The vegetation is sparse due to lack of water and one can find occasional trees and shrubs like Khair, Khejar and Rohira that grow on desert soil.
